Meet Chayel, Assistant Camp Director

Meet CHayel!

With the 2025 Camp season in full swing, we invite you to get to know our Summer Team! Chayel works with LAJF year-round as our Program Coordinator and this summer will serve as Assistant Camp Director for CRS. Check out our interview with her below:

Can you briefly introduce yourself?

My name is Chayel Moses and I’m an artist from the Upstate NY area.  I’m super interested in arts education and the expansion of it specifically at CRS!

What originally brought you to CRS?

The mission and values of Camp Rising Sun truly resonated with me. As an educator, my goal is to effectively inspire and motivate the youth to achieve their dreams through intellectual and transformational experiences.

Has CRS changed the way you think about leadership? If so, how?

CRS has greatly changed the way I think about leadership. What I’ve realized from being at Camp is that traits such as adaptability, self-awareness, and integrity are some of the most important aspects to being an effective leader.

What is your favorite part of the CRS experience?

My favorite part of the CRS experience is the approach of experiential learning. I feel like giving grace to others in perceived failure is really valuable, and the patience of Camp really allows the space for this. It has been wonderful to see campers bloom when provided a safe space to learn comfortably.

What is your intention or hope for the summer?

My intention always is to create a joyous environment for myself and the others around me. This summer, I hope campers will take away an introspective and exciting experience that changes the trajectory of their life!

If you could travel to any place in the world right now, where would you go and why?

If I could travel to any place in the world right now, I’d really go to Amsterdam in the Netherlands. It’s just such a beautiful place to me and I think it really encapsulates my vibe.

What is something you are passionate about in your life?

I’m really passionate about my artwork and music. I’ve been creating since I was 1 and half years old. In all of my work, I use color and form to explore the vibrant space beyond our physical senses—the realm where all creation begins in imagination. My work reflects different states of human awareness as it moves through moments of play, belonging, and understanding. Through a wide range of colors and mark-making techniques, I express vivid energetic worlds. These transitional, or liminal, moments examine identity as something both human and transcendent, embracing the human experience and the deep interconnectedness of all things.

Words you live by?

Look good, feel good, do great things.

What’s on your summer camp playlist?
